"Confirming you're a person": the check page

Before you reach the website, Netvaer Proxy asks for a quick confirmation. Why that happens and how the check works.

· 1 min read

Some websites protect themselves from automated access: programs that fetch pages in bulk, abuse forms or scrape data. In that case you'll see the page "Confirming you're a person" before your first visit.

How the check works

  1. Click the box "Verify you are human". With a keyboard, press Tab to reach it, then Space or Enter.
  2. "Verifying…" appears while your browser solves a small calculation. This usually takes just a few seconds.
  3. When you see "Success!", you're taken on to the page you wanted.

What is checked

Besides the calculation, the proxy looks at how the page was used, for example whether a mouse moved or a key was pressed. It only receives flags and small numbers. It doesn't see what you type or anything else you do in your browser.

Afterwards

After a successful check, you get a pass for this website, this browser and your current internet address. It lasts 30 minutes by default; the operator can change that. During that time you won't see the check page again.
