"Press and hold"
Sometimes the check asks for a second step: hold the box down for a moment. How it works with a mouse, a finger and a keyboard.
If the proxy isn't sure after the first click, a second step follows. The box then says "Press and hold", with "Please confirm once more." below it.
How to do it
- Mouse: press the mouse button on the box and hold it for about one and a half seconds.
- Touchscreen: put your finger on the box and keep it there.
- Keyboard: the box already has focus. Hold down the space bar.
While you hold, a ring spins. Then the check continues on its own.
"Hold a little longer."
If you let go too early, you'll see this note. Just hold again, a bit longer.
Why this step?
A person never holds perfectly still; a hand always moves a little. A simple program, on the other hand, holds completely still. That's how the proxy tells the two apart.
